Greyhounds Sign GM Kyle Raftis to Three Year Extension
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is pleased to announce the signing of Kyle Raftis to a new three- year contract with the organization.
Originally hired on August 26, 2014, the Brampton, ON native’s original contract expired earlier this summer.
“The Board of Directors has been extremely pleased with Kyle’s performance as General Manager for the team the past two seasons in his directing of both the hockey and business operations,” said the Hounds Board of Directors. “The team is well positioned with talented veterans and up-and-coming younger players to be extremely competitive for the next several seasons.”
“Kyle has done a great job in ensuring the proper people are in place to help guide these young student athletes to success on the ice and in the classroom,” the statement continued. “The Board is confident that Kyle will continue to provide great leadership for the organization and continue to ice a product that the city of Sault Ste Marie will be proud of.”
Over the past two seasons (2014-15, 2015-16) Raftis has been at the helm of the Hounds while they accumulated a 87-39-7-3 regular season win/loss record, .677 winning percentage along with the 2015 Hamilton Spectator Trophy and the 2014-15 West Division/Western Conference regular season championship.
“I would like to start by thanking Dr. Lou Lukenda and the entire board for the great opportunity and their support over the past two seasons,” stated Raftis. “Being the General Manager of the Greyhounds is a continued honour. The organization is an exceptional place to work and that can be attributed to the dedicated staff, players and board members who share a common vision of success.”
“I am proud of what we have begun to accomplish over the past two seasons and in working with the players and hockey operations staff,” he continued. “I can say that everyone is even more excited about where we are headed in the upcoming years.”
The new contract puts Raftis in terms with the Hounds through the 2018-19 season.
