Wednesday Highlights: Yetman’s late pair lifts Otters to comeback win
ERIE 6, KITCHENER 4
Chad Yetman (9, 10) banged home a couple of late goals in the slot as the Erie Otters completed a 6-4 third period comeback win over the visiting Kitchener Rangers. Wednesday morning’s School Day Game victory saw the Otters erase a four-goal deficit with four unanswered to get back in the win column following a pair of losses last weekend. Petr Cajka (5, 6) scored twice, including one goal shorthanded while Brendan Kischnick (1) and Kyle Maksimovich (11) rounded out the Otter offence. Jonathan Yantsis (15, 16) led the way offensively for Kitchener with a pair of markers while Joseph Garreffa (7) and Rickard Hugg (10) also capitalized. Erie outshot Kitchener 28-23 while the Rangers were 2-for-4 on the power play. The Otters improve to 9-10-1-0 while Kitchener drops their seventh decision in the last 10, falling to 9-10-2-0.

BARRIE 6, HAMILTON 3
The Barrie Colts took out a 4-0 lead before a Brandon Saigeon (13, 14, 15) hat-trick made a game of things. The Colts hung on for a 6-3 victory as Lucas Chiodo (14, 15) scored his second of the game and Matej Pekar (10) put things out of reach as Barrie snapped a three-game skid. Sam Rhodes (5, 6) scored twice while Jason Willms (5) also lit the lamp and goaltender Maksim Zhukov made 33 saves as the Colts prevailed despite being outshot 36-25. Barrie went 2-for-5 on the power play, scoring twice on a second period five-minute man advantage. Matthew Strome and Arthur Kaliyev assisted on all three Saigeon markers as the Bulldogs had a three-game winning streak snapped. The two clubs now have identical 10-9-1-0 records.

The Mississauga Steelheads proved too much for the Guelph Storm as goals from Michael Little (6), Owen Tippett (12), Cole Carter (18) and Alan Lyszczarczyk (8) powered a 4-1 home ice win. Los Angeles Kings prospect Jacob Ingham stopped 32 of the 33 shots that came his way while Richard Whittaker contributed to the win with two assists. Mississauga outshot Guelph 45-33 as Carter registered 10 on the morning. Anthony Popovich made 41 saves in the loss while rookie defenceman Daniil Chayka (2) provided Guelph’s lone goal. Mississauga leads the Central with a 12-6-2-0 record while Guelph falls to 10-5-3-2.

New York Islanders prospect Blade Jenkins (6, 7) scored twice while Nicholas Porco (10) and Cole Perfetti (9) also tallied as the Saginaw Spirit doubled up the rival Flint Firebirds 4-2 on the road. Mason Millman and Bode Wilde both picked up two assists and Arizona Coyotes prospect Ivan Prosvetov made 26 saves. Ethan Keppen (7) and Jake Durham (11) connected for Flint goals while Ty Dellandrea extended his point streak to 11 games with an assist. Firebirds goaltender Luke Cavallin turned aside 34 shots in the loss. Saginaw improves to 3-0 against Flint on the season, climbing to 11-7-1-1 in the West Division. The Firebirds fall to 2-18-1-0.

OWEN SOUND 6, SARNIA 1
Kevin Hancock (17), Nick Suzuki (17) and Maksum Sushko all extended their respective point streaks to six games as the Owen Sound Attack blitzed the Sarnia Sting 6-1 on home ice. Sarnia’s Hugo Leufvenius (10) opened the scoring before the Attack roared back with six unanswered. Hancock, Suzuki, Brady Lyle (3), Trent Bourque (1), Kaleb Pearson (3) and Daylon Groulx (7) found the back of the net for the Bears. Bourque’s goal was his first in 232 career regular season games. Hancock and Suzuki each finished with a goal and two assists. Attack netminder Mack Guzda stopped 32 of 33 in the win while Sarnia’s Ethan Langevin made 26 saves at the other end. Owen Sound’s third straight win sees the Attack improve to 12-7-0-0, good for a first place tie in the Midwest Division. Sarnia falls to 7-9-2-2 after a sixth straight loss.
