Friday Night Faceoff: Otters at Rangers

Introducing OHL Friday Night Faceoff presented by Rogers tv and Cogeco, featuring the best matchups from across the league to kick-off the weekend every Friday night! We get started with a rematch of last year’s first round playoff action as the Erie Otters visit the Kitchener Rangers in a game you can watch for free across OHL digital platforms such as OHL Live on CHL TV, YouTube, X and Facebook!

Both teams that have hovered inside the top-5 of the OHL Power Rankings throughout the first half of the season, Erie and Kitchener are both what you’d call contenders in 2024-25.

The Otters will be without captain Carey Terrance (USA, World Juniors) and Matthew Schaefer (injured), but feature potential first round NHL Draft candidate Malcolm Spence up front with overage veterans Sam Alfano and Pano Fimis factoring heavily into the team’s success.

The Kitchener Rangers have been the talk of the league, boasting a young cast of stars that punch above their weight. Sophomore standouts Cameron Reid and Luca Romano join NHL prospects in Luke Ellinas (Ottawa), Trent Swick (Vegas) and captain Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa) in bringing a consistent push under one of the league’s top coaches in Jussi Ahokas.

Expect a solid goaltending matchup as 19-year-old Swedish puckstopper Noah Erliden has quietly been one of the league’s most consistent netminders while Kitchener overager Jackson Parsons is having a career season for the Blueshirts.
