Thursday Highlights: Battalion take Central Division showdown

– Edmonton Oilers prospect Matvey Petrov scored his 32nd goal of the season on the power play with 26 seconds remaining for the game winner as the Battalion took sole possession of first place in the Central Division.
– San Jose Sharks prospect Brandon Coe picked up an assist on the winner after scoring his 31st of the campaign 12:53 into the opening period.
– 2022 NHL Draft prospect Ty Nelson had two assists for the Battalion.
– Steelheads rookie Zakary Lavoie scored his 19th goal of the season.
– Mississauga outshot North Bay 31-26.
– Montreal Canadiens prospect Joe Vrbetic made 30 saves for the win opposite Roman Basran who stopped 24.
– North Bay is now 34-17-3-3, two points up on 33-19-1-5 Mississauga.
– The Battalion is 15-2-0 in its last 17 games and has won six in a row. North Bay now owns the League’s top power play at 26.8 percent.
– Kyle McDonald’s point streak came to an end at 13 games.
– The two teams have split their season series with four wins apiece.

– The Colts had goals from five different skaters, outshooting Niagara 44-18 in a winning cause.
– Tai York’s sixth of the season was the deciding goal, coming 7:14 into the third period.
– Rookie blueliner Grayson Tiller scored his first career OHL goal.
– San Jose Sharks prospect Danil Gushchin scored his 35th goal of the season and added an assist for Niagara. He now has 61 points (35-26–61) in 40 games.
– Matteo Lalama made 15 saves for the win in the Barrie crease while Niagara’s Josh Rosenzweig stopped 39.
– Barrie improves to 29-20-4-0 for fifth place in the Eastern Conference while Niagara falls to 16-35-2-1 in 10th place.
