Saturday Highlights: Tkachuk’s trio sparks Knights in Game 2
Matthew Tkachuk’s third hat-trick of the 2016 OHL Playoffs was a big one, boosting the London Knights to a 6-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs on home ice to take a 2-0 lead in the Rogers OHL Championship Series.
The IceDogs managed to get on the board first and outshoot London for the second straight game, but the Knights have been masters of seizing opportunity throughout the postseason and continued that trend on Saturday, scoring six times on 25 shots.
Tkachuk scored late in the first frame before adding his second of the night 6:54 into the second followed by Owen MacDonald’s fourth goal in as many games and Victor Mete’s third of the playoffs.

Christian Dvorak scored 1:10 into the third before Tkachuk completed the hat-trick at 2:25, scoring his 19th of the playoffs as he, Dvorak and Mitch Marner extended their point streaks to 14 games each.
London heads into St. Catharines for Game 3 on Monday on an 11-game winning streak. The Knights have allowed just one goal in each of their past five games, scoring 26 goals in that span.
