EDMONTON, Alta. –  OHL players and staff helped Canada claim gold at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, as they defeated the United States 8-1 Saturday at Rogers Place.

Guelph Storm forward Jaakko Wycisk capped Canada’s offensive outburst with a third-period goal, joining fellow OHL representatives Matthew Henderson (Kingston Frontenacs), Cooper McAslan (London Knights), Brock Chitaroni (Ottawa 67’s), Ryerson Edgar (Niagara IceDogs), Aleks Kulemin (Kingston Frontenacs), Charlie Murata (Flint Firebirds) and Cam Warren (North Bay Battalion) in helping Canada capture gold.

Wycisk finished the championship game with two points (1-1–2), tying for the tournament lead with 10 points (2-8–10) over five games. Maddox Schultz (WHL) and Liam Pue (WHL) each recorded two goals and an assist to lead Canada’s offence on home ice.

North Bay Battalion Head Coach Ryan Oulahen also helped lead Canada’s gold-medal effort from behind the bench. Equipment Manager J.R. Grant (Windsor Spitfires) and Team Physician Dr. Danielle Kelton (London Knights) played key roles in the support staff.

The gold medal marks Canada’s fourth Hlinka Gretzky Cup championship in the past five tournaments, following gold-medal performances in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
