Sting sign Dracen Campbell
SARNIA, ON – The Sarnia Sting have announced the signing of defenceman Dracen Campbell to a Standard Player Agreement.
The Wallaceburg product has been heavily involved in local hockey; he played AAA in Lambton and most recently for the Mooretown Flags of the PJCHL. Campbell spent the last year with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL, where he recorded 17 points in 52 games.
Sarnia Sting scouting has kept an eye on Campbell since he played Junior C for the Mooretown Flags and invited him to development camp in the Spring. He then attended training camp and played in three preseason games. The right-shot blueliner has played six regular season games for the Sting so far this season, earning five assists.
Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said, “He’s very reliable and a smooth skater. He’s a calm decision-maker who can defend. He shows up and gives everything he has every time. He’s just a great teammate to have”.
During his signing, Campbell said, “Signing here means so much to me. Growing up and watching Sting games, it’s a dream come true. It’s been a long journey, and I’ve been trying to grind my way out. Now that I’m here, it feels great.”
“When you add up all of his great player qualities and the fact that he’s a local product who always came to Sting games as a kid and dreamed of being a member of the Sarnia Sting, it’s a great full-circle story that we are excited to be a part of,” said Seca.
