OHL Power Rankings: Sept. 22, 2025
Who’s up:
Windsor Spitfires – up one spot to #1 this week
The Spits came out guns blazing on Friday in Sarnia, scoring eight times with Cole Davis burying a hat-trick and five points. Windsor followed-up with a 4-1 win over the rival London Knights at home on Saturday.
Kitchener Rangers – up one spot to #2 this week
The Rangers leapfrog Brantford into second on the list, defeating the Bulldogs in dramatic comeback fashion 4-3 in overtime Friday night. The Rangers spoiled Erie’s home opener Saturday night, defeating the Otters 3-1.
Niagara IceDogs – up one spot to #4 this week
The IceDogs got their opening night jitters out of the way, losing in Brampton before returning home for a commanding 5-1 win over Sudbury. Rookie Ryerson Edgar stole the show, netting a hat-trick in just his second OHL contest.
North Bay Battalion – up one spot to #7 this week
The Troops join Windsor and Kitchener as one of three 2-0 squads through Opening Week. North Bay beat Oshawa on opening night before a two-goal performance from Ryder Cali powered a 4-3 overtime win in Sudbury on Friday.
Flint Firebirds – up one spot to #12 this week
The Firebirds won an entertaining 6-5 contest in Saginaw on Saturday, with third-year forward Jeremy Martin netting a natural hat-trick. Newcomer Chase Hull scored twice in the win, burying the overtime winner with 14 seconds remaining in OT.
Owen Sound Attack – up two spots to #14 this week
Battling back from down 2-0 to beat London 3-2 in overtime on opening night at Canada Life Place? That’s worth a bump.
Peterborough Petes – up two spots to #15 this week
The Petes were 6-3 winners in their home opener on Thursday night, with Matthew Soto picking up four points (1-3—4) in his debut. They ran into a high-powered Brantford squad on Saturday night, losing 5-1.
Brampton Steelheads – up four spots to #16 this week
The Trout dropped their season-opener before defeating the Niagara IceDogs 4-1 in their home opener, outshooting the Dogs 34-20.
Who’s Down:
Brantford Bulldogs – down two spots to #3 this week
They started on top, but it’s tough to stay there. Brantford let a 3-0 lead evaporate in Kitchener on Friday, losing 4-3 in overtime to the Rangers, who climb ahead this week. The Bulldogs were in fine form on Saturday at home, beating Peterborough 5-1 with 36 saves from goaltender David Egorov.
London Knights – down one spot to #5 this week
The Knights dropped both of their opening weekend matchups, losing 3-2 in overtime to Owen Sound Friday night before falling 4-1 in Windsor on Saturday. It’s a team with lots of new faces, and a few away at NHL camps – we’ll see what next week brings.
Kingston Frontenacs – down one spot to #9 this week
The Fronts didn’t show well in their home opener, losing 6-2 to Ottawa. Troy Mann’s club bounced back nicely on Sunday night in Oshawa, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to beat the Generals 5-2 as brothers Andrew and Robin Kuzma each scored their first OHL goal.
Oshawa Generals – down one spot to #13 this week
The Gennies dropped their first two games of the season, losing in North Bay before dropping their home opener 5-2 to Kingston. Oshawa remains without veterans Beckett Sennecke (Anaheim) and Ben Danford (Toronto) who are with NHL clubs.
Sarnia Sting – down two spots and off the list this week
The Sting were outscored 13-3 in a pair of losses to open the season.
Erie Otters – down one spot and off the list this week
The Otters dropped games against divisional foes Guelph and Kitchener, looking to get in the win column with another crack at the Rangers on Friday.
