OHL Post-Secondary Weekly Round-Up – Jan. 28, 2026
This season, 241 OHL alumni are suiting up across U SPORTS and NCAA hockey programs. Each week, we’ll highlight standout performances and rising storylines from both leagues. Here’s a look at the top moments from the past week of action.

Nolan Dann – Gryphons Athlete of the Week
Nolan Dann (Sarnia, Niagara, Flint) helped lead Guelph to a win in the 16th annual “Frosty Mug” game. He gave the Gryphons the lead for good as he sniped home the go-ahead goal on the man advantage in the second period enroute to a 3-1 victory over the Brock Badgers on Thursday night. In their next game, Dann would score his 12th of the season. In seven games since this month, Dann has tallied 12 points and has taken sole possession of the OUA scoring lead with 31 points (12-19–31) in 20 games played.
Kai Edmonds – TMU Bold Star of the Week
Kai Edmonds (Barrie, Mississauga) made a combined 67 saves over two starts this past week with wins over Laurier and Toronto.
Matt Onuska – Warriors Athelte of the Week
Matt Onuska (London, Windsor) of the Waterloo Warriors started both games last weekend against Western and Toronto where he allowed just three goals across the two games (1.50 GAA) and turned aside 70 of 73 shots for an impressive .956 save percentage.
Max Donoso – Earned Back-to-back Shutouts
Max Donoso (Ottawa, Windsor) posted a weekend split after starting back‑to‑back games. Following a 26-save shutout on the 18th, he followed it up with a 15-save shutout on Saturday against York for his third of the season. Donoso now sits first in the country with a 1.95 GAA.
Reid Valade – Leads USports Scoring
Reid Valade (Kitchener) continues to lead U SPORTS in goals (24) and sits second in points (41) through 24 games this season. Over two games this past week, he added two more assists.
Keegan McMullen – Leads OUA in Goals
Keegan McMullen (Peterborough, Soo) remains atop the OUA goal-scoring race with 17 goals in 21 games, while also ranking third nationally.

Feature Stories of the Week (NCAA):
Austin Elliott – Hockey East Top Performer
Goaltender Austin Elliott (London) made 27 saves Friday night for UMass on 29 shots faced from Maine in a 2-0 loss.
Jake Karabela – Leads Ohio State in Scoring
Jake Karabela (Guelph) scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Buckeyes in a 4-2 victory at Notre Dame on Friday night. Currently, the freshman leads Ohio State with 19 points (5-14–19) across 22 games.
Owen Van Steensel – Records Two Goals
Owen Van Steensel (North Bay, Barrie) recorded two goals at St. Lawrence in Clarkson’s 5-5 tie on Friday night. It marked his second goal performance of the season.
Cole Brown – Records Two Points
Cole Brown (Brantford) recorded two points (1-1–2) in the Fighting Irish’s 4-2 loss to Ohio State.
