Nardi and Bruder commit to IceDogs

St. Catharines, ON – The Niagara IceDogs announced Friday that they’ve received commitments from 2017 ninth round (165th overall) selection Daniel Nardi as well as 17-year-old free agent training camp invite Andrew Bruder.

Nardi, a 16-year-old defenceman from Newmarket, Ont., spent his minor midget season with the GTHL’s Vaughan Kings where he recorded two goals, 10 assists and 12 points in 33 games. His Vaughan club reached the semi-final of the 2017 OHL Cup as he appeared in six games, registering a goal and two assists.

“Daniel has proven to be an elite young talent and to get him locked up is extremely exciting for our organization,” said IceDogs general manager Joey Burke. “His poise and patience as a 16-year-old is rare and impressive to see. He has a very bright future ahead.”

Bruder, a 17-year-old native of Woodstock, Ont., spent the 2016-17 season representing his hometown Woodstock Navy Vets Jr. C club, recording 16 goals, 10 assists and 26 points over 40 games. He added seven assists over six playoff contests.

“Andrew was the pleasant surprise of training camp,” Burke noted. “He is a guy who gets better every year, the way his game is progressing is remarkable to watch. We are lucky to have added him to the IceDogs family.”
