Greyhounds’ Dickinson out long-term with injury
The Soo Greyhounds reported Sunday that veteran centreman Tanner Dickinson will miss an extended period after suffering a broken right femur in a game against the Barrie Colts on Saturday.
A 19-year-old from Perrysburg, Ohio, Dickinson left the eventual 4-3 overtime win midway through the third period after tumbling hard into the boards following contact with Barrie forward Ethan Cardwell who was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
A fourth round pick of the St. Louis Blues in the 2020 NHL Draft, Dickinson sits third in Hounds scoring with 47 points (18-29–47) over 35 games this season. His 22 power play points have powered the League’s top-ranked man advantage, one operating at 29.4%.
A former free agent signing by the Hounds prior to the 2019-20 season, Dickinson was a member of the U.S. National Junior Team that competed in the abbreviated 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in December.
The Greyhounds currently lead the Western Conference with a 23-12-3-1 record, riding a streak of seven consecutive games collecting a point. They return to action with back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday in North Bay before consecutive matchups on Sunday and Tuesday in Sudbury.
