Generals acquire Avalanche prospect Funck from Knights

The Oshawa Generals have acquired defenceman Linus Funck from the London Knights in exchange for two future OHL Priority Selection picks.

London receives Guelph’s second-round selection in 2027 along with Sudbury’s third-round selection in 2028.

Funck joins the Generals following his first season in the Ontario Hockey League, recording four goals, 18 assists and 22 points over 65 regular-season games with London. The 6-foot-3, right-shot defenceman also appeared in three playoff contests for the Knights.

A native of Luleå, Sweden, Funck was selected by London in the first round, 58th overall, of the 2025 CHL Import Draft after recording five goals, 23 assists and 28 points in 48 games with Luleå HF J20. He led the club’s defencemen in assists and points while finishing third among the team’s blueliners in goals.

Funck was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round, 118th overall, of the 2025 NHL Draft.

The 19-year-old also represented Sweden at the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase in Windsor this summer, recording two goals and an assist as part of the country’s evaluation process ahead of the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The addition gives Oshawa another experienced presence on the blueline as the Generals prepare for the 2026-27 season.
