First round pick Jack Nesbitt commits to Spitfires
WINDSOR, ON – The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce the signing of Jack Nesbitt to the Red, White and Navy for the 2023-24 season.
Nesbitt was selected #20 overall by the Spitfires in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection draft. Jack hails from Sarnia, Ontario. He stands at 6’4 and weighs 175lbs.
Nesbitt played for the Lambton Jr Sting during the 2022-23 season. He recorded 20 goals and 29 assists in 28 games played during the season. Jack also played for Team Ontario in the Canada Winter Games, he scored one goal in six games.
The Sarnia native is excited to be joining the club.
“You know it feels amazing, it is everything I’ve ever wanted since I was little.” Nesbitt started. “It is a very special moment for me and playing for an amazing organization means so much and I can’t wait to get started.”
Bill Bowler spoke on Nesbitt putting pen to paper.
“Jack is a young man that we targeted early on in the season, he’s an elite player and we can’t wait to see him on the ice and in our community.” Bowler said. “He will be a big piece to the success of our organization.”
OHL Central Scouting says: “Jack is a tall and lengthy centre that has been turning heads since the beginning of the season. He has produced offence all year, both in tournaments and in his regular season. He is a good skater that uses his big 6’4” frame to protect the puck well and he uses his reach both on the offensive and defensive sides of the puck. He is a smart player who is usually in the right spot at the right time and the puck does tend to find him. Jack is an intriguing prospect because of his size and ability to produce on a consistent basis.”
