Carson Christy commits to Steelheads
MISSISSAUGA, ON – Steelheads General Manager, James Richmond announced today that the club has received a commitment from 2020 second round pick, Carson Christy.
“We are excited to announce that Carson Christy has committed to the Steelheads,” says Richmond. “Carson is a very smart player that has shown that he can score goals. We look forward to seeing Carson in the blue and white and we are sure our fans will be as excited as we are when they see him on the ice. We would like to welcome Carson and his family to the Steelheads family.”
The Oshawa-native was selected by the Steelheads with the 38th overall pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection after registering an astounding 62 points (41G, 21A) in 36 regular season games and 15 points (9G, 6A) in 9 playoff games with the Oshawa Minor Generals. Christy’s 41 goals paced the ETAMMHL – 9 more than the next highest goal scorer, Jack Piper (York-Simcoe Express).
“It’s an amazing feeling to put pen to paper and sign with the Mississauga Steelheads, says Christy. “I’m excited to get back on the ice and start this new hockey chapter with the team. I would like to thank the Steelheads organization for selecting me, and Oshawa Minor, my coaches and my parents for helping me reach the OHL.”
Carson Christy is the third member of the Steelheads draft class to commit to the club, joining first round selection, Zak Lavoie and fellow second round pick, Owen Beck.
