Attack Sign Ryan McGill to Contract Extension
Owen Sound, ON – The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that they have extended the contract of Head Coach Ryan McGill through the 2017/2018 Ontario Hockey League Season.
McGill guided the Attack to a 32-25-8-3 record, good for 75 points and 6th place in the Western Conference. The Attack were defeated in 6 games by the eventual Memorial Cup Champion London Knights.
“We are thrilled to have Ryan with us through the 2017-18 season. It was Ryan’s desire to stay and a priority for us to have him here, so this is a very positive step for our organization moving forward.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray.
The Sherwood Park, AB. native collected his 300th Canadian Hockey League coaching win this past season. The majority of those wins came with the Kootenay Ice whom he guided to a Memorial Cup win in 2002. McGill also spent time with the Calgary Flames organization, serving as a Head Coach of their American Hockey League team and eventually serving as an Assistant Coach with the Calgary Flames under Brent Sutter.
“My first year in Owen Sound was fantastic.”, stated McGill. “The City, the people and the upward trajectory of this team are all positive. I’m very excited about this team and the direction we’re headed in.”
The entire Attack roster is eligible to return next year with the exception of overage forwards Bryson Cianfrone, Josh Sterk and departing goaltender Daniel Dekoning, leaving a very solid core for future years.
McGill added, “We have a very strong group of core players. There’s a lot of work to be done, but fans should be excited about what this young team has to offer.”
