2026-27 Milestone Moments: Week 1 (Sept. 17-20)

Each week, we round up all the notable milestones and firsts from across the league, including goals, points, starts, and wins. Milestone Moments are presented by Diamonds Factory, the official jeweller of the Ontario Hockey League.

 

Top Milestones of the Week:

• Royden Smith (KGN) – Turned aside 44 shots in his OHL debut to help Kingston come away with a win despite being outshot 47-25. Smith’s 44 saves are the most on record since 1997-98 by a Frontenacs netminder making his OHL debut. He followed up the performance with another victory to improve to 2-0 on the young season, earning OHL Rookie of the Week honours.
• Chase Petrova (BFD) – Stopped all 31 shots he faced on Saturday as Brantford blanked the 2027 Memorial Cup host Guelph Storm 6-0. With the performance, Petrova became the first OHL goaltender since 2021 to record a shutout in his league debut.
• Kane Cloutier (OSH), Colin Kennedy (ER) & Tanner Adams (SBY) – The first three selections from the 2026 OHL Priority Selection all found the back of the net twice during their first weekend of OHL action. 
• Ryerson Leenders (OS) – The league’s winningest active goaltender now sits just five victories shy of 100 for his OHL career.
• Owen Loftus (NB) – Made 24 saves and earned first-star honours in his OHL debut on Friday, backstopping the North Bay Battalion to victory. At 16 years and 142 days old, Loftus became the second-youngest goaltender in Battalion history to earn a win and the youngest to do so since 2014.
