2016 OHL Cup Day 1 Recap
Day 1 of the 2016 OHL Cup featured a total of five Wild Card Play-In games that saw the Quinte Red Devils, Mississauga Senators, Kingston Jr. Frontenacs, Don Mills Flyers and Niagara North Stars secure OHL Cup berths.
The 2016 OHL Cup got underway in the evening with four Round Robin matchups on the schedule.

2016 OHL Cup Wild Card Play-In Games:
Wild Card 1 – Quinte Red Devils 4, Vaughan Kings 2: Dawson Baker and Nathan Dunkley each scored twice as the Red Devils return to the OHL Cup for a second straight season. Game Summary
Wild Card 2 – Mississauga Senators 3, Halton Hurricanes 1: Max Golod scored the game winner as the Senators advanced to the OHL Cup with a 3-1 win over Halton. Game Summary
Wild Card 3 – Kingston Jr. Frontenacs 4, Clarington Toros 1: Kingston defeated the ETA rival Clarington Toros 4-1 behind a goal and an assist from Tyson Moore. Game Summary
Wild Card 4 – Don Mills Flyers 4, Kitchener Jr. Rangers 3 2OT: Goaltender Rhett Kimmel turned in a strong performance for Kitchener, but Jack Babbage scored in double overtime to give the Don Mills Flyers a 4-3 win. Game Summary
Wild Card 5 – Niagara North Stars 5, Markham Majors 4 – Liam Foudy’s hat-trick wasn’t enough as Markham’s comeback bid fell short in a 5-4 loss to the Niagara North Stars. Game Summary
2016 OHL Cup:
Game 1 – Toronto Marlboros 5, Southern Tier Admirals 1: Danil Antropov scored twice while Akil Thomas had a goal and two assists in a 5-1 Toronto Marlboros win over Southern Tier. Game Summary
Game 2 – Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs 3, Toronto Jr. Canadiens 2: Goaltender Tanner Sheppard was the difference, leading the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs to a 3-2 win behind goals from Jack Wismer, Wesley Weir and Marino Moro. Game Summary
Game 3 – Toronto Red Wings 3, Windsor Jr. Spitfires 1: Matthew Hayami netted a third period natural hat-trick in a span of 2:03 to lead the Toronto Red Wings over Windsor 3-1. Game Summary
Game 4 – Mississauga Rebels 4, Barrie Jr. Colts 2: Goals from Jack Hughes and Samuel Bitten broke a 2-2 tie to put the Mississauga Rebels over the Barrie Jr. Colts 4-2. Game Summary
