OHL 20 in 20 Futures Watch: Hamilton Bulldogs
It’s been an exciting few months for the Hamilton Bulldogs.
In March the club made their playoff debut, in April’s Priority Selection they chose three players in the draft’s top-50, then in May and June received commitments from all three top prospects setting the stage for an optimistic 2017-18.
Hamilton’s 2017 draft class is headlined by a trio of forwards beginning with Connor McMichael chosen 11th overall after leading the Ajax-Pickering Raiders with a point-per-game in one of their most successful OMHA minor midget campaigns. The Bulldogs used their second round pick to select Russian born Arthur Kaliyev of Detroit Compuware where he captured a U16 national championship leading the final tournament in scoring. Forward Liam Van Loon, chosen in the third round, also enters the fold following a championship year winning an ALLIANCE title with the London Jr. Knights.
McMichael, Van Loon, along with fourth round defenceman Xavier Henry and fifth round forward Navrin Mutter will represent the Bulldogs at Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-17 Selection Camp in Calgary on July 22nd.
