Generals Name Nathan McIver Assistant Coach
OSHAWA, ON – The Oshawa Generals are happy to announce the hiring of new Assistant Coach Nathan McIver.
McIver played 10 seasons of professional hockey as a defenceman with the Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League, as well as the Manitoba Moose, Providence Bruins, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hamilton Bulldogs and Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. Most recently he played in the British Elite Ice Hockey League with the Braehead Clan.
McIver’s junior hockey career was spent with the St. Michael Majors where played under Generals Head Coach Bob Jones.
“It’s an exciting time to be with the Generals organization as a fan, a player and a staff member,” said Generals Vice President and General Manager Roger Hunt. “With that being said I would like to welcome Nathan McIver as the newest member of the coaching staff. Nathan will join Greg Nemisz and be reunited with Bob Jones. Bob coached Nathan in the OHL with the St. Michael’s Majors and always made mention of his work ethic and willingness to learn as a player and that will translate over to his coaching. Nathan brings a number of years playing defence in the NHL and the AHL and will be a great resource for our defenceman.”
