Attack acquire veteran goaltender Ryerson Leenders from Bulldogs
The Owen Sound Attack have acquired goaltender Ryerson Leenders from the Brantford Bulldogs in exchange for defenceman Jet Kwajah, a fifth-round pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, a conditional second-round pick in 2027, a conditional fourth-round in 2027, and a conditional 15th-round pick in 2028.
Brantford receives a package of future draft capital as part of the transaction, while Owen Sound adds one of the OHL’s most experienced netminders ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Leenders, a Nanticoke, Ontario native, appeared in 39 regular season games with the Bulldogs during the 2025-26 campaign, posting a 27-5-4 record with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. He also recorded two shutouts and handled the bulk of Brantford’s starts, helping the club win the Hamilton Spectator Trophy as regular season champions.
Originally selected in the second round, 32nd overall, of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection by the Mississauga Steelheads, Leenders quickly became a strong goaltender in the league. The 6’1, 179 pound goaltender has recorded 94 wins across 168 regular season games in his OHL career, while adding 16 wins in 30 playoff appearances between the pipes.
Going to Brantford is Jet Kwajah, a defenceman drafted by the Owen Sound Attack in the sixth round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. The 2008-born blue liner spent his last two seasons with the Madison Capitols of the USHL, and is eligible for the upcoming 2026 NHL Draft. Kwajah has recorded 13 goals and 30 assists for 43 points across 96 games during the previous two campaigns.
