Rangers’ Hennig named Team Services Manager of AHL’s San Diego Gulls
Kitchener, Ont. – Anaheim Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek has named Dominic Hennig Team Services Manager of the Ducks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, San Diego Gulls.
Hennig, 31, will oversee the Gulls’ team travel including air and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, catering, ticket requests, player and staff relocation and the day-to-day itinerary. Additionally, Hennig will be a key team member coordinating the Ducks’ development camp each July and the Gulls’ training camp each October.
“We would like to congratulate Dom on his recent appointment with the Anaheim Ducks and thank him for his contributions to our organization,” said Kitchener Rangers Chief Operating Officer Joe Birch. “In a short time, Dom had a tremendous positive impact on both our business and hockey operations. We are proud to have helped him achieve his goal of reaching the NHL.”
A native of Detroit, Mich., Hennig is entering his 15th consecutive year in the hockey field after serving as the Kitchener Rangers Senior Director of Broadcasting, Communications and Hockey Operations this past season.
“Dom played an integral role in creating a professional environment and giving our players and staff A+ treatment in his team services role,” said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. “It will be impossible to replace what he brought to our team but that being said, we are so happy for him and he has earned this opportunity. We will miss Dom but wish him the best of luck in California.”
Prior to his time in Kitchener, Hennig played a key role in launching the inaugural season of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), one of six NCAA Division I hockey conferences in the United States. Before that, he served as the Director of Broadcasting and Communications for the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Flint Firebirds for six years from 2015-21. Additionally, Hennig was the Assistant Director for Broadcast, Communications and Multimedia for Ferris State University’s NCAA Division I hockey program for six years from 2009-2015.
“The Kitchener Rangers have an incredible culture with amazing people in place and I could not be more thankful to have been part of this team,” said Hennig. “I’m extremely grateful and would like to thank Joe [Birch], Adam [Bramhill], Mike [McKenzie] and Michael [Zsolt] for the opportunity. I look forward to representing the Rangers at the next level.”
Hennig is a graduate of Ferris State University in Michigan where he has earned a bachelor of science degree in business and public relations, along with a minor in sports communication, and has begun working toward obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Dominic and his wife Nicole plan to relocate to San Diego this August.
