Landen Hookey named 28th captain in Attack franchise history
Owen Sound, ON – The Owen Sound Attack have named overage forward Landen Hookey the 28th captain in franchise history.
Hookey, from Sarnia Ontario, has played in 134 games for the Attack since coming to the team from the Soo Greyhounds in a trade midway through the 2022-23 season. Landen has been an incredible representative of the Attack both on and off the ice, and has taken on a significant leadership role in the dressing room, having been named an assistant captain earlier this season.
“Being named captain is an honour and a great privilege,” said Hookey. “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead this group of guys and keep a good culture here in Owen Sound. This league has shown me how many great captains there are and I just want to follow their foot steps. I want to thank the management and coaching staff for trusting and believing in me to me the captain of this organization.”
Hookey has set career highs in both points (34) and assists (19) already this season through just 38 games, and is tied for his career high in goals at 15, a mark which he set last year in 64 games. He will skate with the ‘C’ on his jersey for the first time Friday night when the Attack are in Sarnia to face his hometown Sting, and will be back in front of the Attack faithful at home this Saturday night when Owen Sound faces off against the London Knights.
When asked, Attack Head Coach, Scott Wray, says he feels Landen will be a ‘great voice for this young group’.
“Landen has ben nothing but a leader for us all season. He continues to help work with the young guys develop into every day OHL players he takes pride in both ends of the rink and has really become a true power forward in this league. When hooks speaks everyone listens and follows.”
