Wolves to host Attack and 67’s in weekend double header
(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) The Wolves return to the Sudbury Community Arena for the first time in 12 days, as they begin a four-game homestand. A double-header weekend sees the Pack take on the Attack as Owen Sound visits for their first and only time this season on Friday. Following this game, the Wolves face the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday, in a rematch from their battle on October 7th in Ottawa.
The Wolves return home from an Eastern Ontario road trip after clashes with the Peterborough Petes, Kingston Frontenacs, and the Ottawa 67’s. The Pack went 2-1-0-0, seeing major contributions from Kieron Walton, who recorded 2 goals and 2 assists as well as Jakub Vondras, who made 58 saves and recorded his first OHL shutout in Peterborough.
The Owen Sound Attack currently sit third in the Midwest Division with a record of 3-2-0-0, as their roster features NHL prospects such as Cedrick Guindon (MTL), Servac Petrovsky (MIN) and recent first round selection Colby Barlow (WPG). The Attack are also featured sixth in the recent OHL power rankings.
The Ottawa 67’s come into this season after being first in the Eastern Conference for the 2022/23 OHL regular season. They are placed fourth in the East Division with a 1-2-0-0 record. Ottawa returns with much of last season’s firepower, with a roster containing NHL prospects Tuomas Uronen (VGK), Brad Gardiner (DAL), Kaleb Lawrence (LAK), Cooper Foster (PIT), Matthew Mayich (STL), and new captain Luca Pinelli (CBJ). They also come with a youth injection from players such as Henry Mews, who’s rated 16th in Bob McKenzie’s latest 2024 NHL Draft rankings. Sitting in fourth in the recent OHL power rankings, the Wolves seek to halt the hype Sunday, October 15th, game time is 2:05pm.
The Wolves receive a major boost with the return of first round selection Quentin Musty and newly signed Djibril Toure. Musty joins a potent line which includes Evan Konyen, Kocha Delic, and David Goyette (SEA). Nick Yearwood has also been making contributions to the Packs early season success with 3 goals in the team’s first five games.
