Sting Set for 2017 OHL Priority Selection
SARNIA, ON – The Sarnia Sting hold the 9th overall pick in Saturday’s 2017 OHL Priority Selection. Earlier today, the Barrie Colts announced that they will officially select London Jr. Knights forward Ryan Suzuki with the first overall pick at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning.
The Sting have 16 picks in the 15-round draft including three picks in the 3rd round and two picks in the 6th round.
General Manager, Nick Sinclair completed two trades on the eve of the draft. First, he dealt Hamilton’s 5th round pick (91st overall) in this year’s draft to the Oshawa Generals in exchange for Flint’s 4th round pick in 2019 and Oshawa’s 10th round pick in 2019.
Sinclair was able to move up four spots in round two by trading Erie’s second round pick (41st overall) along with an 8th round pick in 2018 for Windsor’s second round pick this year (37th overall). The GM has a busy morning ahead of him with nine picks in the first six rounds.
