Game Notes – Game Preview October 17, 2026 at Saginaw Spirit
The Sarnia Sting are back in action tonight as they travel to the Dow Event Center for the second half of their home-and-home series against the Saginaw Spirit. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Sting will be looking for a bounce-back performance following Friday night’s 9-2 loss at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. Penalty trouble proved costly for Sarnia, as the Spirit capitalized on four power-play opportunities to hand the Sting their third consecutive loss.
Despite the result, several Sting players continued their strong offensive starts to the season.
Easton Walos scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season, extending his point streak to five games (6G, 2A). The forward has now found the back of the net in three consecutive games and leads the Sting with 14 points (9G, 5A) through 11 contests.
Cole Emerton also continued his impressive start with Sarnia, recording two assists in Friday’s contest. The defenceman extended his point streak to six games (1G, 7A), while Logan Hawery added two helpers of his own to extend his streak to five games.
Matthew Manza scored Sarnia’s other goal on Friday, with both Sting goals coming on the power play.
On the other side, the Spirit enter tonight’s matchup riding a four-game winning streak. Brody Pepoy led Saginaw’s offence on Friday with a hat trick and an assist, while Braidy Wassilyn recorded four points of his own. Wassilyn currently leads the OHL scoring race with 20 points (10G, 10A) through nine games.
With the two teams meeting for the second time in less than 24 hours, the Sting will look to make the necessary adjustments, stay disciplined and limit Saginaw’s offensive opportunities.
Tonight marks the second of six regular-season meetings between the West Division rivals. Sarnia will aim to put Friday’s result behind them and return to the win column before heading home.
Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Dow Event Center. Fans can catch the action live on FloHockey and follow along with Sting socials for updates throughout the game.
