Gearing Up For Game 5
The Mississauga Steelheads return home down 3-1 in their first round series with the Sudbury Wolves. Game five is on Friday, April 5th at 7pm at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, and the Trout need YOUR support to get back into this series. Get your tickets here!
The Steelheads have been through a lot in just four games this postseason. After posting an impressive 0.933 save percentage in game one, goaltender Ryerson Leenders went down with an injury in game two and has yet to return. Additionally, the team was without spark plug Gabriel Chiarot for games three and four. Chiarot is expected to return to the lineup for game five and will provide a large boost to the team’s fourth line.
On the offensive side of the puck, the Trout will look for their stars to keep producing. Porter Martone has five points in the series, and has been the team’s best setup man thus far, notching four assists. Lucas Karmiris has three goals and an assist through four games, including the game winning tally in game three. Jakub Fibigr leads the Mississauga blueline in scoring, with four points.
A standout in the series thus far has been rookie netminder Jack Ivankovic, who has been resilient since taking over the crease for the Blue and White. Ivankovic was thrown into the starting position as the team headed north to Sudbury, stepping up and leading the team to a 4-2 victory in game three thanks to a stellar 38-save performance. Despite facing a barrage of shots in game four, Ivankovic kept the Steelheads in the battle, making 40 saves.
If necessary, games six and seven of the series will be played on Monday, April 8th and Tuesday, April 9th.
