WHAT A MONTH!
Spitfires captain Ryan Ellis is the OHL’s Defenceman of the Month for November.
In ten games, the fourth-year stalwart had five goals and 12 assists for 17 points, including five multi-point games.
Ellis had a season-high four-point game, with two goals, including the overtime winner, in a 6-5 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on November 20th. He also recorded three assists and was first star in a 5-2 home win over the Oshawa Generals, on a night in which he was honoured for setting the franchise record for points by a defenceman with 230.
Ellis set the record with an assist on November 10th, breaking the record previously held by Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach and Spitfires great Joel Quenneville.
Ellis was recently named to Canada’s National junior team selection camp roster for the third straight year.
The Nashville Predators first-round draft pick and two-time Memorial Cup champion captained Team OHL at the 2010 SUBWAY Super Series and is second in scoring among defencemen with 32 points in 24 games.
Eric Locke joined Ellis as an award winner, as the OHL’s Rookie of the Month for November.
