Kerby Rychel and Michael Clarke had two goals each and Zack MacQueen chipped in a pair of assists, as the Windsor Spitfires doubled the Erie Otters 4-2 in OHL pre-season action at the WFCU Centre on Friday night.
The Spits led 2-0 after 20 minutes, before Rychel struck for his second of the night on a brilliant rush early in the second period. The second-year winger took a pass at centre ice from Zack MacQueen and busted past the Erie defence before beating Tyson Teichmann with a nifty deke to extend Windsor’s lead to 3-0 at 5:30.
Clarke’s second of the game late in the second ballooned the lead to 4-0 after 40 minutes.
Mitch Eisenberg spoiled what would have been a shared shutout between John Cullen and Dalen Kuchmey at 12:52 of the third period, firing a rebound through a pile-up in front of Kuchmey.
Chris Marchese rounded out the scoring at 18:41.
