RAISE YOUR HANDS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN AREA SCHOOLS
RAISE YOUR HANDS GIVING BACK
Program promotes school spirit, fun of hockey
As part of the club’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, Windsor Spitfires staffers Nathan Sellon and Matt Haddad created the “Raise Your Hands” program back in the fall.
The program, presented by Wendy’s Jr Pilots Kids Club and Sylvan Learning Centre, is an initiative that helps elementary schools across Windsor & Essex County raise much-needed funds through the sale of Spits tickets.
Since St. William became the first school to participate as part of our October 6th game versus the Niagara IceDogs, the program has donated $26,400.00 back to participating area schools, via the sale of 5,285 tickets.
A portion of each ticket sold is donated back to each school, and incentive programs for top selling classes help students learn the value of working as a team.
Just like the Spitfires.
“The best thing about this program has been that we’ve been able to reach students, bring them out to a game and let them experience everything the Windsor Spitfires have to offer, while also providing the opportunity to fundraise for their schools in a fun way.” said Sellon.
“It’s always a positive when we can find ways to give back to the community.”
In all 40 schools participated in the Raise Your Hands program this season.
