GAMEDAY PREVIEW: SPITS HOST KNIGHTS
Western Rivals Meet for 1st time this season
Evan Mathias, WindsorSpitfires.com
The Spits look to make it three straight wins as they host the London Knights at the WFCU Centre (7:05).
It’s the first meeting between the clubs since last year’s Western Conference quarter-final series.
A 4-3 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs Thursday night gave Windsor (5-7-1-0) its first back-to-back wins of the season.
London (8-6-0-0) heads into tonight’s contest having won four in a row, including last night’s 8-5 victory over the Western Divison leading Soo Greyhounds.
WHO’S HOT?
Sam Povorozniouk (7G, 3A) leads the Spitfires in goals.
Josh Ho-Sang (3G, 11A) has recorded points in all but one game since his return. His four-assist effort against Kingston was a season-high.
The 18-year-old has had success against the Knights, scoring seven times and adding 13 assists in 15 career regular season and playoff games.
Defenceman Trevor Murphy (2G, 11A) continues to be an offensive threat. His 13 points leads all Spits defencemen and is good for third among OHL blueliners.
Alex Fotinos has posted a .922 save percentage over his last three games, including a 38-save performance against Kingston and a 26-save effort in a 1-0 loss to Plymouth back on October 23rd.
SHUT DOWN DOMI
Returned from the Arizona Coyotes earlier this month, newly-named London captain Max Domi is getting some big ice-time and has, predictably, responded, with 14 points in his last four games, including two goals and three assists in last night’s 8-5 win over the Soo Greyhounds.
Domi had 10 points in five games against the Spitfires last season.
SPITS MISSING LOGANS
The Spits will be without the services of Logan Brown and Logan Stanley, as they compete in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia.
They’ll be suiting up for “Team Canada Red” at the tournament, which runs from November 2nd to 8th at the RBC Centre.
