MILNE DEBUTS
Brody Milne makes his Windsor debut tonight, as the Spitfires take on the Saginaw Spirit at the WFCU Centre.
Windsor (17-10-0-0) and Saginaw (15-9-3-1) are deadlocked in a tie for second place in the Western Conference’s West Division, seven points back of the Soo Greyhounds.
The Spitfires have a game in hand on both clubs.
Acquired in the blockbuster deal that sent Kerby Rychel and Nick Ebert to the Guelph Storm Tuesday night, Milne, an 18-year-old left winger, says he’s excited to take on a bigger role.
“I was playing on a team with lots of offensive threats,” Milne said Wednesday, after his first Spitfires practice. “I hope that coming here will open up some doors.”
Milne skated on a line with Remy Giftopoulos and Nikita Yazkov.
NEW START
Despite dealing Rychel, the club’s top goal-getter (16) and Ebert, a workhorse on the blue line, team President and Head Coach says the Spitfires aren’t throwing in the towel.
“We want to maintain the core of this team,” Boughner told CBC Radio’s Windsor Morning program. “We’ve built a pretty good lead on a playoff spot. We still think we’re a playoff team. And, if something comes up in the next month where we can add a player that helps us, we’ll look at doing that.”
SPARKY’S TOY DRIVE
We’re proud to stand beside the Windsor Professional Firefighters Benefit Fund this holiday season with our Sparky’s Toy Drive event tonight.
Last year, more than 600 toys and $3,800 were collected at this event and distributed to local service agencies and community groups by the WPFBF.
Volunteers will be on-hand again this year, collecting new, unopened toys as fans enter the building.
Toys and cash donations can also be dropped off at any Windsor Fire Station throughout the city between now and December 23rd.
