It didn’t take long for a pair of Spitfire stars to make their way to the pro ranks following the end of their OHL season.
Ryan Ellis and Zack Kassian each made their American Hockey League debuts this weekend in playoff action.
Ellis assisted on the game-winning goal, helping the Milwaukee Admirals to a 3-1 win over the Houston Aeros in Game One of the Western Conference semi-finals. Milwaukee hosts Game Two of the series on Sunday afternoon.
Kassian wore his familiar #19 in his first game with Portland. Kass registered two shots as the Pirates climbed back in their Eastern Conference semi-final series with the Binghamton Senators. The Sens lead the series two games to one. Game Four goes on Monday night in Binghamton.
Ellis was drafted in the first round, 11th overall, by the Nashville Predators back in 2009. Kassian, who played for the Peterborough Petes at the time, was chosen two picks later, at 13th, by the Buffalo Sabres.
Good luck to both Elly and Kass as they move forward in their respective series.
