Canada’s National Women’s Team to face United States in Windsor
WINDSOR, ON
Hockey Canada, in partnership with the City of Windsor and the Windsor Spitfires, has announced that Canada’s National Women’s Team will face the United States, ahead of the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship, on October 28 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario.
This will be the first time the Windsor Spitfires have hosted a major event involving Women’s hockey.
The Spitfires’ organization also recognizes some of our key female hockey staff members. Nutritionist and Strength and Conditioning Assistant Kyla Seguin, Athletic Therapist Jennifer Love, who won a silver medal with the National Team at the 2026 U-18 Women’s World Championship and Kathy McLlwain, our skating coach who helps train a lot of these women vying to make the National Team.
Mayor Drew Dilkens spoke on the impact of this event.
“Events like this reflect our community’s passion for hockey and its unique ability to bring people together. Hosting world-class competition inspires young athletes to strive for excellence, engages residents, creates community pride and generates positive economic growth for local businesses. It also provides an opportunity to showcase outstanding facilities like the WFCU Centre, which continues to attract premier sporting events to our city.”
General sale tickets will be available for purchase on Thursday September 10th at 10am.
General Manager Bill Bowler gives thanks to Spitfires Ownership and Hockey Canada.
“Special thank you to the Windsor Spitfire’s Ownership group- John Savage, Stephen Savage, and Brian Schwab – for creating such a positive environment within our organization that allows us to host and welcome events like this and to everyone at Hockey Canada for bringing this event to Windsor from the World Junior Summer Showcase in July to the Team Canada vs Team Sweden tune-up games in 2024. Hockey Canada knows the Windsor Spitfires’ staff, team, volunteers and community will again create a memorable event for players and fans”
