RBC School Tour goes to Prueter Public School
Kitchener Rangers players Frank Hora and Nick Magyar recently visited Prueter Public School on Tuesday, January 26th and read to students of various ages in grades 1-2.
The students were looking forward to the visit, and had plenty of questions prepared for the two Rangers:
“Who is your favourite hockey player?”
Frank: “Alexander Ovechkin is my favourite player.”
Nick: “My favourite player is Sidney Crosby.”
“When did you start playing hockey?”
Frank: “I started playing when I was three years old.”
Nick: “I first skated when I was two, and started playing hockey when I was four.”
“Do you like soccer? Who is your favourite player?”
Frank: “Yes, I like soccer. My favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Nick: “My favourite player is Lionel Messi. He’s the best.”
The players then took a few moments to deliver their own message to the students on the importance of education.
“Staying educated helps keep the mind sharp and attentive,” said Frank. “Those are important qualities that help us when we are out on the ice during a game.”
The final question the players were asked was by the teacher, who wanted to know what they each remembered from when they were the student’s age.
“I remember reading and doing math,” replied Nick, “but the most important thing I remember was being taught the importance of listening in school, whether it is to your peers or the teacher.”
Frank added “I remember learning about the importance of respecting those around you.”
