Rangers Street Team Kicks Off Season This Saturday
The Kitchener Rangers Street Team kicks off their summer event season today, Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Atlas Apex Hot Shots Street Hockey Tournament. Rangers’ defenseman Ben Fanelli will also be at the event to join Rangers Alumnus Boyd Devereaux as a Champion for Children.
Hot Shots is a one day street hockey tournament that features entertainment, prizes, celebrities and Canada’s favourite pastime – hockey.
The tournament, which takes place at Sportsworld Crossing, raises funds for Family and Children’s Services to help kids attend camps or other recreational activities. The event aims to provide children living in the community with summer camp experiences that will help them build confidence, life skills and their self-esteem. Last year, the tournament helped pay for over 600 weeks of camp for local children.
Rangers’ Ben Fanelli and former Ranger Boyd Devereaux will be onsite signing autographs and giving tips at the tournament’s shooting clinic.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Street Team is a part of the Hot Shots Street Fair happening at the tournament – bringing the excitement of Rangers hockey to the community. Come check out the Street Team’s shooting cages where you can take a shot on net and stop by our tent for some great giveaways! The street fair is open to the public from 9:00am-3:00pm.
