Rangers sign Jake Henderson
The Kitchener Rangers announced today they have received a commitment from right winger Jake Henderson to the terms of an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement. Henderson was the team’s ninth round pick (173rd overall) in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.
The 6’02, 203 lbs St. Louis, Missouri native was a member of the USHL’s Omaha Lancers last season, posting seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points with 158 penalty minutes in 57 regular season games.
Rangers General Manager Murray Hiebert expressed that Henderson’s size is impressive, but even more so is what he’s willing to do with it.
“This is a player that has terrific size, but doesn’t give a second thought to blocking shots or going into the dirty areas in front of the net. While he’s a player that loves to play a physical game, Jake has also shown an offensive upside.”
