Rangers Knock Off Attack
Owen Sound, ON: Scott Timmins scored the game winner in the third period tonight to knock off the Owen Sound Attack 5-4.
Justin Azevedo opened the scoring in the first period with his 5th goal of the season beating Attack netminder Scott Bowles low on the blocker side. Trevor Lewis tied the game at 18:45, his 11th goal of the year.
In the second period the Rangers regained their lead on rookie Nazem Kadri's 3rd goal of the season. Lewis struck for his second of the game while shorthanded to tie the game at 2-2. Matt Halischuk deposited Dan Kelly's point shot on the power play for his team leading 17th goal of the season at 13:04 to put the Rangers up 3-2.
J-M Rizk put the Rangers up 4-2 with his 6th goal of the young season at 2:39 of the third period. The Attack responded on goals from Bob Sanguinetti and Bobby Ryan to tie the game at 4-4 midway through the period. Scott Timmins scored what would be the eventual game winner after a great individual effort by Steve Tarasuk at 13:21.
John Murray was outstanding between the pipes earning his 9th win of the season to improve his season record to 9-3-0-1.
The Rangers played the game without Kevin Henderson who was injured last night as a result of a kneeing match penalty from Todd Perry of the Knights. Mike Duco also missed the game due to injury.
