Rangers Edge Whalers 2-1
Ryan Murphy scored the game-winning goal to give the Rangers a 2-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers.
Ryan Lopes scored the lone goal of the first period at the 7:57 mark to put the Rangers up 1-0. The Whalers outshot the Rangers 16-11 in the first period.
Robbie Czarnik opened up scoring for the Whalers in the second period at the 17:05 mark to tie the game at 1-1. The remainder of the period was scoreless.
Murphy put the Rangers up 2-1 with a goal at the 9:38 mark in the third period.
The Rangers open 2011 with a 2:05pm game in Oshawa on January 1st and return to home ice on Friday, January 7th to host the Erie Otters. Game time is 7:30 pm.
