Ontario tops Atlantic at 2013 WU17
Team Ontario won by another big margin defeating Team Atlantic 11-1 Tuesday afternoon at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Drummondville.
The win improves Ontario’s record to 2-0-1 heading into Wednesday’s final round-robin contest against the host Team Quebec at 7:30 pm with the winner advancing to Thursday’s Semi-Finals.
Spencer Watson (Kingston Frontenacs) scored a hat-trick and was named Player of the Game, one of 14 OHL skaters with at least one point.
Dante Salituro (Ottawa 67’s) was Ontario’s top scorer with two goals and two assists, while Michael Dal Colle (Oshawa Generals) had two goals and an assist.
In total, six players finished with at least two points – in addition to Salituro and Dal Colle, Jared McCann (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds), Josh Ho-Sang (Windsor Spitfires) and Robby Fabbri (Guelph Storm) had a goal and an assist each, and Roland McKeown (Kingston Frontenacs) added two assists.
Damian Bourne (Mississauga Steelheads) was the other goal scorer for Ontario.
Ontario led 2-0 after 20 minutes before Team Atlantic cut the lead to 2-1. Ontario added four goals in the second period to push the lead to 6-1 before scoring five third period goals.
Guelph Storm prospect Matthew Mancina picked up his second win in as many starts for Ontario stopping 35 of 36 shots in total.
