Nothing is E-Z
The old saying “you learn something new every day” is one to live by. In fact, I make it a point to try and learn something every day just to keep the saying relevant! Yesterday, I learned that the ECHL is not called “the E.” How was I supposed to know? We call the OHL “the O,” the QMJHL “the Q,” the AHL “the A” (I think), etc. Alas, the ECHL is known as “The Coast.” Calling it “The E” only leads to laughter at the dinner table. Take my word for that one.
I learned my latest lesson at last night’s team meal. We came into Plymouth for Game 4 a day early and while yesterday was a little more laid back, it’s all business today. The players have already been to the rink for a morning skate and we’re boarding the bus for the big game shortly. There’s definitely a different atmosphere and a lot of talk about what needs to be done to draw even with the Whalers in this series. All that’s left is to go out and get the job done.
Word from back home today is that Julian Melchiori had successful surgery for that broken jaw. He’s facing a liquid diet for the next little while and his smile looks a little different…but it’s still there. Tough kid…and he’s sending positive vibes all the way to Plymouth.
Game 5 goes Friday in Kitchener. We’ll see you at the rink.
