Kitchener Rangers average attendance tops 5,000 mark
After Sunday’s game against the Kingston Frontenacs, the Kitchener Rangers average attendance topped the 5,000 mark. The crowd of 5,658 at The Aud brought the total season attendance to 65,249, an average of 5,019 per game.
- Speaking of attendance, the Rangers ranked second in the OHL as of October 31, behind only the Ottawa 67’s. Ottawa was averaging 8,873.
- Sarnia ranked third in the league with an average of 4,260.
- The average OHL attendance was 3,128, a 7.3% increase over last season.
This past weekend, the Rangers went 0-2-1. Despite the recent slump, the team is still two games above .500 at 11-9-4.
- Thursday in Guelph, the Storm came back from a 3-0 deficit, to defeat the Rangers 4-3. The win also gave the Storm a 2-1 lead in the eight-game Great Canadian Challenge.
- Friday in Kitchener, the Owen Sound Attack held on for a 2-1 win before 5,137 fans at The Aud. Attack goaltender Justin Day was solid in stopping 32 of the 33 shots he faced.
- Sunday in Kitchener, the Kingston Frontenacs managed a 5-5 tie with the Rangers, before a season-high Sunday crowd of 5,658. Steve Eminger led the Rangers with one goal and two assists.
Up next, the Rangers will play three games in four days this weekend. However, this time, the weekend starts Wednesday evening before wrapping up Saturday night.
- Wednesday, the Rangers head to Owen Sound for their third game against the Attack this season. The Rangers won the first meeting, 5-3, and lost the second game 2-1. Both games were in Kitchener. The Attack are 6-3-1 in their last ten games, while the Rangers are 4-5-1.
- Friday, the Rangers play the first of a home-and-home with the Erie Otters. The Otters will be missing top guns Brad Boyes (mono) and Cory Pecker (broken arm). Erie won the only other meeting between the two clubs, 4-2 in mid-October. Erie is 6-4 in their last ten games. Game time is 7:30pm at The Aud.
- Saturday, the Rangers travel to Erie to complete the weekend against the Otters. Game time in Erie is 7:30pm.
The Rangers injury list has grown this past weekend to include both Ryan Ramsay and Chad McCaffrey. McCaffrey being the most serious, as he is out 4-5 weeks with a shoulder separation. Marcus Smith and Mike Amodeo could return to the line-up this weekend; both are currently listed as day-to-day.
