Figure Skating Champion Jeffrey Buttle Teaches Rangers Captain New Tricks
Olympic Bronze Medalist and World Champion figure skater, Jeffrey Buttle, visited the Kitchener Rangers practice on Tuesday, November 15th afternoon during a visit to The Aud promoting his upcoming show, Holiday Festival on Ice, Sunday, December 4th.Buttle quickly received a pair of hockey gloves and stick and joined Rangers Captain, Michael Catenacci, on the ice for an impromptu training session. Catenacci enthusiastically took to teaching Buttle the finer points of passing the puck and how to shoot the perfect wrist shot. Buttle – who has recently joined a recreational hockey league–was eager to learn some constructive tips.In exchange, Buttle demonstrated the difficult “shoot-the-duck” figure skating position and jokingly suggested that this becomes Catenacci’s goal-scoring celebration. Catenacci was impressed by the speed and agility of the world-class skater.When asked if Rangers fans can expect an appearance in the team’s line-up, Buttle replied with a laugh a said, “I think after seeing my skills with the stick and puck it won’t be happening anytime soon.”
