Canada Opens 2008 World Junior with 3-0 Victory

PARDUBICE, Czech Republic – John Tavares with two power-play goals and Matt Halischuk with a single scored for Canada while Steven Stamkos had three assists and Jonathan Bernier was brilliant in net, making 44 saves, to lead Canada to a 3-0 triumph over the Czech Republic in the first day of competition at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship on Wednesday.

Canada's next game is Thursday, December 27 versus Slovakia and will be televised live on TSN/RDS at 10:00 am EST.
