Winnipeg assigns Rangers’ Zhilkin to Manitoba Moose
Kitchener, Ont. – The Winnipeg Jets announced today that they have called up Kitchener Rangers forward Danny Zhilkin to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.
A native of Oakville, Ont., Zhilkin was acquired by the Rangers in a trade with the Guelph Storm in January of 2023. He signed a three-year NHL Entry-Level Contract with Winnipeg on Dec. 30, 2022. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound left-shot forward recorded 56 points (29G, 27A) in 60 games in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this past season. Zhilkin added five points (1G, 4A) in nine playoff games with the Rangers. He was a third-round pick (77th overall) by Winnipeg in the most recent 2022 NHL Draft.
Internationally, Zhilkin represents Canada where he captured a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World U18 Championship, posting two assists in seven games. He also played at the 2019 World U-17 Hockey Challenge where he recorded six points (4G, 2A) in five games for Team Canada Black.
Zhilkin was a first-round pick (14th overall) by Guelph in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection after amassing 80 points (43G, 37A) in 102 games with the Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA Hockey Club in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GTHL).
The Winnipeg Jets are currently in the NHL Playoffs, trailing the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 in the first round. The Manitoba Moose begin the second round of the AHL Playoffs this Friday against the Milwaukee Admirals.
