#RTown Donates 2750 Pounds of Potatoes and Over 4,000 in Cash Donations
The Kitchener Rangers held the 27th Annual Don Cameron Potato Night presented by Zehrs on Friday, January 27th, where Rangers fans were encouraged to bring cash donations and potatoes in support of the House of Friendship.
The late Don Cameron spearheaded the initiative of fans bringing potatoes – inspired by his native Prince Edward Island – to provide meals and support to families in need in Waterloo Region.
Founded in 1939, House of Friendship serves Waterloo Region with a vision to build a community where all can belong and thrive. Annually, HOF provides support to more than 42,000 people who need access to food, shelter, addiction treatment, and vital community resources. For more information, visit www.houseoffriendship.org.
This year fans were able to donate over $4,600 in cash and 2750lbs of potatoes!
Thank you for continuing to make this night a success for our community. In the past 26 seasons over the equivalent of half a million pounds of potatoes have been raised.
