Riley Damiani drafted to the Dallas Stars
Kitchener Rangers centre Riley Damiani became the second Blueshirt of the day chosen in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft when he was selected in the 5th round, 137th overall by the Dallas Stars.
The 18-year-old, Mississauga, ON native joins teammate Adam Mascherin as the second member of the Rangers drafted by the Stars on Day 2 of the seven-round draft.
Damiani had a strong showing in his sophomore Ontario Hockey League season, setting new career highs in goals (19), assists (18), points (37), power play goals (4), shorthanded goals (2) and game winning goals (5).
Entrusted by head coach Jay McKee to shut down some of the top lines the Rangers faced through their run to the Western Conference Final this past postseason, Damiani was named a multi-award winner at the end of the campaign as the team’s recipient of the Jim McGeachie Memorial Award for Outstanding Team Effort, as well as the Les Bradley Award winner for Most Improved Player.
