Rehkopf and Šalé reassigned to Coachella Valley
Kitchener, ON – The Seattle Kraken have reassigned Carson Rehkopf and Eduard Šalé to the Coachella Valley Thunderbirds.
Rehkopf signed an entry-level contract with the Kraken on Sunday, April 21st, and will now join their affiliate team in Coachella Valley on an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of the season. Rehkopf was drafted by Seattle in 2023 draft, 50th overall, and had a career year with the Rangers. He set career highs in goals (52), assists (43), points (95), game-winning goals (10), and points per game (1.58). Rehkopf was also tied for the most power play goals (16) in the league while his 52 goals put him second in the league in scoring.
Eduard Šalé will join Rehkopf in Coachella Valley for the remainder of their season. Šalé was drafted 20th overall by the Kraken in the 2023 NHL Draft and signed an entry-level contract with the club on July 17th, 2023. The Czech-born forward started his season with the Barrie Colts before being traded to the Rangers at the trade deadline. Since then, Šalé put up eight goals and 18 points in 24 games followed by five goals and 12 points in 10 playoff games. Šalé was second in scoring for the Rangers in the postseason.
Coachella Valley has received a bye to the second round of playoffs after clinching the Pacific Division title in the American Hockey League. They will begin round two on Friday, May 3rd against the Calgary Wranglers who has Rangers ties with Hunter Brzustewicz and Riley Damiani on their roster.
