Rangers announce support of the Jake Saves Campaign
The Kitchener Rangers are proud to support goaltender Jacob Ingham’s “Jake Saves Campaign” benefiting Hockey Gives Blood.
Hockey Gives Blood is a non‐profit organization and an official partner of Canadian Blood Services that creates awareness about the importance of blood and stem cell donation amongst the Canadian hockey community.
The Ingham family is donating $5 for every save Jacob makes during the 2019/20 regular season to Hockey Gives Blood.
The Rangers are pleased to announce that we will be matching that donation with another $5 for every save.
Jacob and his family started the campaign last season as a tribute to his grandparents. Ingham’s grandmother required a number of blood transfusions after sustaining severe injuries in a car accident with his grandfather in the summer of 2018. It was then that the family decided to support the non‐profit organization.
For the first 50 games of the 2018/19 season, he and his family donated $4 for every save he made. In total, he made 1,393 stops for a donation of $5,572.
His efforts were recognized this past summer when he was presented with the first ever Dayna Brons Honorary Award, which was created by Hockey Gives Blood and Canadian Blood Services.
The Hockey Gives Blood movement began in 2018 and was founded by four former hockey players, all of whom were seeking to do more for the hockey community.
All funds raised in support of Hockey Gives Blood directly fuel efforts to further engage and mobilize the hockey community in blood donation and the stem cell registry.
It also helps:
‐ recruit the 100,000 new blood donors that are needed this year in Canada to keep up with the demand
‐ encourage members of the community to join the stem cell registry, improving the likelihood that every patient in need of a stem cell transplant will be able to find his/ her life‐saving match
“We’re excited to support Jake this season as he continues his inspiring work for Hockey Gives Blood and Canadian Blood Services,” said Kitchener Rangers Board of Directors President Shawn McKelvie.
“Any time one of our players shows this type of compassion and community leadership, we are proud to provide as much support as possible.”
