Kitchener Rangers announce player commitment from Chris McGonigle
The Kitchener Rangers announced today that free agent goaltender Chris McGonigle has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement with the club.
The 6’1, 192lb Belmont, Ontario native played his minor midget for the Elgin Middlesex Minor Midget AAA Chiefs in 2013-14, and spent the last two seasons with the Ridley College Tigers, backstopping his team to a Midwest Prep Hockey League (MPHL) title in February with a 1.67 GAA and a .909 SV%.
Rangers goaltending coach Kain Tisi says McGonigle fully showcased his abilities last month at Spring Camp and more than earned the right to be signed by the club.
“Chris is a goaltender that tracks the puck extremely well,” said Tisi. “He’s good with his hands, and makes smart decisions when handling the puck.
“He performed very well at Spring Camp, only giving up two goals in three games with a shutout. We welcome Chris and his family to the Rangers organization.”
