Game Recap: Powerplay woes end snap streak at eight
Game Summary: Kitchener scored on the first shot of the game but never again which resulted in their first loss since November 2nd. The Rangers entered the third period tied for just the second time this season; the first time was in their opening night win over the Saginaw Spirit. This time was not as successful, giving up two shorthanded goals and an empty netter in the third frame to lose 4-1 to Owen Sound.
Deni Goure recorded three points for Owen Sound including two goals and an assist. All of that was done in the third period to help boost them to the win. Filip Mesar scored the Rangers lone goal for his fourth in two games.

1st Period
OS 0, KIT 1
0:29 Filip Mesar (9) – Trent Swick
Mesar stayed hot following his hat trick last game, scoring 29 seconds into the game. Swick stole the puck at the centre dot and carried the puck into the Owen Sound zone. From here Swick passed the puck to Mesar who stepped up to the blocker side hashmarks and ripped a shot over Corbin Votary’s right pad.
OS 1, KIT 1
14:53 Cedrick Guindon (12) – Ethan Burroughs, Madden Steen
Owen Sound tied the game up despite being outplayed. Guindon scored on their fourth shot of the period on a shot that just squeaked through Jackson Parsons. Guindon received the puck from Burroughs within the far faceoff circle. He cut down and fired a shot from a tough angle. A screened Parsons stopped most of the puck, but it rolled behind him and into the net, tying the game.
3rd Period
OS 2, KIT 1
1:42 Deni Goure (13) – Ethan Burroughs – SHG
Owen Sound scored on a Rangers powerplay that began at 1:20 when Guindon was called for cross-checking. Kitchener turned over the puck up at center ice to Burroughs and passed the puck up to Goure on a short-handed breakaway. One-on-one with Parsons, Goure put the moves on and scored giving Owen Sound their first lead of the game.
OS 3, KIT 1
10:50 Deni Goure (14) – SHG
The Rangers powerplay gave up a second shorthanded goal in the third period. Parsons attempted to pass the puck up to Rehkopf, however, the puck got picked off by Goure in the neutral zone and taken back on a breakaway as the powerplay had gone to change. Goure sniped the puck behind Parsons scoring the Attack’s third unanswered goal of the game.
OS 4, KIT 1
19:37 Sam Sedley (6) – Deni Goure
Owen Sound capped off their win as Sedley scored an empty netter off a neutral zone faceoff win. Goure won the faceoff back to Sedley and he iced the puck to seal the deal on the empty net. This was Goure’s third point of the game.

The Goalies:
Votary had a 59-minute and 31-second shutout after giving up the first shot of the game before stopping the next 35. He improved his record to 4-3 on the year. Parsons recorded his first loss in eight games, his last loss was against Owen Sound on October 28th. Jackson saved 24 of 27 shots and his record now moves to 12 wins and 5 losses.

Up Next: Kitchener enters a three-game road trip tomorrow with afternoon games Saturday in Guelph and Sunday in Flint before traveling to Erie Wednesday for their final game in November. The East Avenue Blue will return home for their first December contest next Friday for a 7 pm affair against the Niagara IceDogs. This will be the only time the IceDogs will make the trip to Kitchener. The Rangers beat them 7-4 on October 18th, in Niagara.
